Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Tuesday said that protection of life and property of the people is the first priority of the government; however, police culture cannot be improved without first changing the general conduct of the police.

While addressing the passing out parade of 57th recruit-class course of constables at Police Training Institute, the chief minister said that human life is the most precious in the society. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) has set the line of action of every force that is deputed to protect the people with His actions which stresses maintaining the honour and prestige of the human life, he said.

He maintained that there is nothing bigger virtue than the protection and service of human beings. He said that people coming to police stations should be treated as the respectable citizens of the society than an applicant. The cooperation of the people is pivotal in ensuring effective actions against criminals and for the maintenance of law & order in the society, he said.

Police should, therefore, transform its behavior to restore the confidence of the people, he said. He further said that Punjab police should also emerge as an example for other provinces adding that merit-based recruitments in police department are praiseworthy.

The CM also inaugurated the training college upgradation project of Police Training Institute Multan and announced to upgrade the post of principal from SSP to the rank of DIG. Earlier, police constables presented a marvelous show of march-past and a smartly-turned contingent of the police presented salute to the Chief Minister.

He inspected the passing out parade and gave away prizes to the best performers while the best performing company was given honorary flag. 1147 officials from DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad were given professional training in the institute. IG Police also addressed the passing out parade.

Moreover, Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of senior politician and former provincial minister Arshad Khan Lodhi. In a condolence message, the chief minister paid rich tributes to the socio-political services of late Arshad Khan Lodhi and prayed that Almighty Allah may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with equanimity.
